Awesomatious! If you're interested in details, read on.

This is an inexpensive diaphragm and piston combo for BS34. It is similar to original. Piston is silver rather than goldish like original. Diaphragm appears to be rubber over cloth like original. Similar weight. Overall impression of good quality. Arrived in about 9 days, from Japan.

You'll need to switch the needles from the original. JIS bits for your magnetic screwdriver handle will be useful.

On the original, remove the two screws then remove the plate, spring, and needle with washer. Note the tiny plastic pin on the needle that fits into a little hole in the piston. Install the needle with washer and turn til pin seats in hole. Drop in the spring, then the plate. Hold the plate down against the spring with a small screwdriver. Put the screws on a magnetic screwdriver and screw the plate down tight. There are four holes in the plate; the two farthest from the edge are for the screws. Massage diaphragm lip into the cutout for it in the carb. It will eventually stay as the folds adjust. Will the diaphragms last? Time will tell. First impression is awesomatious!

That's an amazing price. Haven't been on his store in quite a while, he's grown a lot. Saw his XS1-XS2 floats, a PAIR for $18!

The gold/amber color of my BS38 slides is from some sort of plastic low-friction coating. Was there any coating on your new slides?

^I've read there is a plastic coating on originals. I just now checked an original with a meter and it seems to be true. The pistons of the replacements felt like they had just the lightest coating of sticky grease, not too unlike how the originals feel really. I thought it might be preservative and thought about trying to get it off with something on a rag, but then thought better... It is an amazing price -- his strategy seems to be offering only the highest price/performance. P.S. wanted to add that the construction is same as original, with the two plastic rings and the top of the piston rolled over a bit to hold it all together.

I bought my piston rings from him. They were half the cost of everyone else and I wondered if the price was only for one piston so I panicked and ordered two. Got an extra set of rings now.

I think he may just be using a generic picture, or at least I hope so. He also sells floats for the XS400, 750, and 1100. They differ from the 650 BS38 floats yet his picture is the same.

This time last year I used some of those on my '81 and the were fine. Strong tension against the cyl. wall w/ subsequent good oil control. Something I don't understand is he has a type for '76 - '82 and a type for '74 - '76. I thought engines from '74 up were more similar than that.

One listing says 74-76, the other 76-82... so if you have a 1976 you can use either set... the same as if you have a 1974 or a 1982 you can use either set... because yeah, like you said, 74 and up are all the same.
The two kits are probably exactly the same. Just a marketing ploy.
