    hey Leslie!

most of my stuff, including the carbs have come from Omar's. They came with carbs, manifolds, air filters, and throttle cable. GREAT guy to deal with.

The frame was powder coated. "chrome" is what the color is called. It's not even close to chrome, but it's the closest I could get to the nickel plated frames (Champion, Trackmaster) that the guys used to run back in the day without goin' to actual nickel plating. It was done with the color ("chrome") and then cleared (again powder coated). hope this helps.

Seat mounting: again the seat (as well as the tank) came from Omar's. It comes with rubber mounted "captured nuts". They go into the stock support frme piece (see pic)

And one more thing.................do NOT apologise for the questions, that's how we share here! how do you think I got to where I'm at? We're here to help. And keep us updated on your project!

(did anyone notice how I spelled "apologise"?)

Next up, gonna make braided stainless brake lines, mount the battery box, wiring (gonna farm that out, I'm not someone you want to do ANY electrical work (more on that later). While the wiring is being done we're (okay my son in law) is goin' to do the paint work. Stay tuned, this is about to get good. i'm planning a vid of the initial fire-up and ride.

Get your SIL to turn that Ninja into a Bryan Smith replica flatracker. I want to do that, but too many projects now.

Thanks, John, can't fuckin' wait!! Well I can but it ain't easy.

  9. Pregrid.. I also noticed those plugs in the intakes and exhaust ports.. Im in australia and Im not sure I can get those here could I be a pain and ask what the sizes of them are so I can try order some via Autozone?? **Pretty Please**... :)

  10. What kind of plugs? (Sparkplugs I assume)... and how many do you want?

  11. I think Robbo means the expansion plugs.
You can always try local hardware stores, auto shops, tractor supply places. They're fairly common items in those kinds of places. As far as I know, all they do is keep air from circulating in and out while the exhaust/intake is off the block.

  12. Exactly what I meant Ridethroughlife... Not sure how I could have meant spark plugs in the intake and exhaust ports??? lol
wanted to get some of those to plug the ports sealed while working on/cleaning up the engine to keep gunk and crap out...

Looking very good Dave{ that is your name?}.
A few more ?'s. It looks like you didn't take all the brackets off suggeted in Omars build book? I see side cover bottom holders.
Every nut and bolt looks new. What source do you use there?
What length are those pods? Would they fit if you had the oem battery box in?
    Keep the pics coming!

Oh, one more? What part of the build does the iron and ironing board fill:bike:

I had originally planned on using the side cover bottom holders to attach the side number plates. That has changed.

Bolts come from a variety of places. Mostly the hardware store and for the hard to find OEM stuff like motor mount bolts here:

    http://search.yahoo.com/r/_ylt=A0oG...1309904742/**http://www.speedandsportinc.com/

Pods are 4 3/4" including the part that mounts to the carb. don't know if they'll fit with the stock airbox.

The board and iron are used for ironing out those unplanned kinks you will always encounter in a build like this.:D

  16. Pregrid,
Your Omars petrol tank looks nice, what other tanks have you heard of other people using on the flat trackers.

    >It comes with rubber mounted "captured nuts".

Just in case it's helpful, some vendors call them "well nuts," and you can get them at Ace or other hardware stores, as well as online:
    http://www.amazon.com/NEOPlex-Pack-Signicade-Plasticade-Frame/dp/B001N12FUS

They are a bit limited, strength-wise. I used one to hold the seat/tail unit on my flat track bike to the frame loop and it pulled free.

Beautiful work, pregrid. Thanks very much for posting so many photos. My tracker is a rat; yours makes me want to take it all apart and do it right.

I would but you're dealing with an old fart that just recently learned to post pics. I have no clue how to put figures where your question marks are. However, if I can find help to do that I will. Failing that I will somehow get you the dimensions for the stand. Bear with me.

i also have this engine stand that I have no use for.............never used.
