Can this be removed?

Im going to be cleaning up a frame and was wondering if this could be removed and if so is it pretty straight forward? I dont want to go grinding something off that i shouldnt. Lol

This is one of the instructions for adding a weld on kit from voodoo and I think that's the same piece you're talking about. So I'm assuming it's safe to remove.

Just a thought but manufacturers don't normally add something without a reason as this will add unnecessary cost.

Definitive answer may come from someone who removed theirs some years ago and don a decent mileage without the frame folding.

I don't see any reason to remove it unless for doing a weld on kit. I haven't seen many (if any) hardtails with this piece in place

TC Bros hard tail installation instructions have that piece left on. Mine has been welded over and ground on, ugly area that I'm not sure what to do with yet. If mine looked as good as yours I would just fill that cut mark with weld and grind it smooth.

The plates make a stronger connection than just welding the tubes to the backbone. It spreads the load over a larger surface area.

That must be the reason for them, sort of a gusset.
