Ok guys I'm new here and new to the xs650s.
This is my first one so I've been doing some reading here and had a quick question

Basically I was given the bike and it's been sitting for at least 10 to 15 years.
I pulled the carbs off and have them soaking in a parts cleaner.

From what I've read is the carb rebuild kit for the 80-84 from mikesxs the best way to go? Seems like everyone says that's all you need.
If not what else should I get or go with?

Thanks ahead of time for everyone's help

Seems like everyone says that's all you need.
Almost no one on this Forum recommends it.
Buy genuine Mikuni float valves, or just get the needles, that's all you really need, look here:

The MikesXS float valves are junk.
The MikesXS gaskets are okay, or look for cheap eBay ones.
Pilot jets and main jets depend on your modifications, but even without mods you should re-jet, as the 80s XS650s came lean from the factory. You might be able to find jets locally, or look for genuine Mikuni ones.
If you dunked the carbs without disassembling the throttle shafts, then you will need new shaft seals, and you probably need new o-rings.
These are not easy carbs to dissasemble and properly re-build.
