Starting to put together my latest project, and I'm looking to fab a battery box. I need to know what you guy's feel is proper CCA numbers for an electric start. Looking at a Battery Tender Lithium with under and over charge protection also I'm running the dreaded PMA.lol Thanks

220 CCA Deka squeezed right into my 79 battery tray minus the rubber box. Had to surround the battery with dense foam for fully vibration free & service free.

Thanks for the reply Machine. The 4 XS's that I have had have all been kick only. I'm just getting to damn old to keep kicking if it does not start on the first kick. Glad to know that 220 CCA will be enough to crank it up......

Let us know how you make out with the lithium ion, I just went threw deciding on that or conventional, I'm curious to see if there are any cold or hot problems with the l ion.

Tim, on my Rocket III I had a 710LCA Lithium battery and it was great until cold weather came. Under 40*F it was lousy and around 26-25*F it was useless. No amount of letting it warm with the lights on would help it. I went back the an AGM battery and no problems since.

I vote you go with an AGM for the XS

Thanks for the info Boog. I'm not looking to save weight as much as my space is very limited, it' a drop seat bobber.....
