Hey all,
Just got a '72 XS2 on the road. Before riding it, I had to do some work, including replacing the clutch pushrod seal. I noticed that the cable adjustment was way out. Replaced the seal and fitted a new cable. With the cable adjustment at the handlebar all the way out and the clutch rod properly adjusted, I cannot fully disengage the clutch. I adjusted the rod with no slack - that is it is fully seated and not backed off a quarter, and the clutch now works. What is going on? BTW, this model has a single rod with one ball on the clutch side. What do you think?

Did someone maybe change the lever at some point. With a brand new cable my perch adjustment was out more than I would have expected. I adjusted the worm really close as well. Just it's close to maxed out at perch. You can try a spacer.
I changed my clutch perch and needed a spacer anyway but a little one might help in your case. It should work without modification tho.
