Clutch release mechanism

This may be of interest, or you may already be aware.
While attempting to repair the alternator stator on my TX750, I had the LH case off and decided to clean and lubricate the clutch release mechanism. Thinking it would be a steel benbix in a plastic/nylon bearing, I was pleasantly surprised to find ball bearings inside, see pictures.
I am not sure which type the XS/TX650 has, but you have to admit that this type is better, I think.
 
I've often wondered why yamaha chose to use a nylon and steel combo . I guess I assumed that they went that route to prevent friction or seizing of the worm due to rusting or thermal expansion.
