Had this one for several years, '37 Buick 46S - bone stock except for a 1946 Carter carb, turn signals and later wheel rims. Always loved the styling, how the body lines just flow together. Cars with side-mounted spares are more desirable to collectors, but I think they just break up the smooth flow of the lines in side view.

I was born in 1950, got my Driver's licence in 1966, just to give you a point of reference.

'55 through '57 were PRIMO years for Ford and Chevy, the rest of the big outfits not so much in my opinion. Never got into the whole Fins and Chrome thing.

Everything turned to crap in 1958 and Detroit didn't build another decent looking car until 1963 or 1964 with the possible exception of the '62 Chevies.

But, as they say, "Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder"

Gorgeous Buick!....now I want to paint my wheels red!

Buick had it all over both Ford and Chev in those years in style chrome and performance.
Compare the 1957 Buick Super Riviera Sports Coupe in this pic.
Being GM the body styles very similar but bolder , note the rooflines reverse rake rear piller, which Chev incorporated the next year in '58.
(This pic from my wall is lowered and wheeled up)

When I was a kid, probably '65 or '66, a guy at church bought a brand new Buick Electra 225.

Small church in a small town and 99% farmers, everybody knew everybody and there was a lot of teasing went on after church when everybody stood around bullshitting and smoking. Dad asked Fred if he needed a Master Mariner license to drive that land yacht...:laugh2:

Here in the frozen north (it's 6 below) dur'n the summer you can attend car shows on Friday and Saturday nights with 100's of vehicles (1974) and older (free, no charge to car or public). On other nights.. usually mid week.. restaurants host shows because.. seems car guys have wallets and know how to eat.
In June the state fairgrounds plays host to over 12,000 cars (1964 and older). " Back to the 50's ". In July another event is held there for vehicles 1974 and older.

Downeaster said it best. Different taste! And this is a forum and it snowed 4" last night so I have nothing better to do at the moment so. The 57 Buick pictured is a very nice restomod. Just the right height for 20 guys to lean back against while marveling over a 57 Bel Air 2dr HT, black with red interior and factory Rochester injected 283 HP 283 or a 57 Fairlane 500 Skyliner with 312 cid dual 4bbl carbs interceptor motor. Even with the 364" 300 HP Nailhead motor the 57 Buick wouldn`t outrun a fat man uphill. Buick did however have a couple of attributes. The 57 grill did look good in a 49-50 Merc and a 56 Buick tail light lens wound go right in a 55 Chevy and eliminate the back up light.
Lets just face the facts here. Perry Mason drove the skyliner! Lt Tragg drove the Buick sedan

Bu-Bu-Bu-Buick!!!! "That`s the sound you make when you throw up".

Forgive me Lord for I just had to stirrrr the pot.

:poke: Shit stirrer...

1956 may have been the peak of Detroit styling. A '56 Ford Victoria or Thunderbird would be right at the top of my list if I hit the megabucks.

The reality of the situation, however, is that I'd NEVER go back to carbureted engines, drum brakes and the sorry excuse for suspension that comes with nostalgia. Now if you could drop that '56 Vicky on a modern running gear...

You could resto mod a 56 Vicky with say a Super Snake running gear and suspension and brakes ..
Funny yr anti carb and riding a carbed bike...my other bike has Fuel Injection designed by Mc Laren and controlled by Power Commander V and Dynoed by the best tuner DownUnder.
That's the Vic not the C90
