I'm about to split the cases on a 1977 motor. It was running, but leaking badly on the bottom end, so I want to go in and replace all the seals and button it up right.

Using the "wiggle test" on the small end of the rods, I'm getting a little bit of play, but my manual says up to 1mm is okay, so I'm assuming the crank is good and I'm not going to run into any other major wear.

In this case, is it worth it to send the crank out to be trued and/or welded?

This is not a race motor, just for a casual rider, although I do have a Wiseco 700cc kit rated at 9:1 compression that I plan to put on the top end.

Check the side to side clearance on the rods as well. The book has the specs.
You can replace the seals without splitting the cases.
For a daily driver it sounds like it's ok.
Welding a crank is often recommended for engines that get hard use. Most street use won't.
