CVMG (Canadian Vintage Motorcycle Group) National Rally

Update on the rally yesterday. Man what a show and swap meet that is.

After working my way through 100's of bikes (and that's just in the parking lot before even entering the grounds), I spent the day walking through a fairgrounds full of 100's more bikes, this time of the vintage variety, and used parts vendors. Met and chatted with lot's of cool people. Helped one guy diagnose and start to fix a carb problem on a new to him XS1100 as I was passing by. Man I seem to be haunted by carburetors these days, but I don't envy him, he's got 4 to play with.

I was quite surprised at how under represented our XS650's are considering their popularity.

Out of all those bikes on display only 2 stock XS's, unless I missed one somewhere.

This one was just acquired by a guy who is really a Honda guy but has crossed over to the dark side and has just picked up a 70, 71 and a 72 from someone liquidating their collection.

He said he hasn't done a thing to this one, not even started cleaning it yet, and that the other two are in even better shape. Wow, incredible finds. He will have all 3 at the Toronto CVMG rally if anyone is going.

This one is owned by 'Yamaholly'. She owns, rides - on and off road, and wrenches 5 Yammies, but this is her only 650 and her daily ride.
Her partner has the same bike and she says they get quite the double takes when he's riding with her. Lol.

This was the only other 650 at the show. Owner/rider 'Mick' has raced it at Mosport, Barber and many others I didn't recognize, and is still racing it these days.

Also met and had quite a chat with one of Pete's buddies from his Essex/Kent CVMG chapter. Oh, the stories he had to tell. Don't worry Pete, your secrets are safe with me.

Well, that's pretty much it for this event from this roving reporter........until next year.
