I am looking to build a bobber, I am looking into buying a early 81/82 rolling frame w/o a motor. Last year I bought a 71/72 650 motor, I was wondering if I would be able to drop that motor into that frame? Any thoughts!
Short answer is yes.
Is the motor 71? no electric start all 4 valve covers are 3 bolt,
or 72? electric start, LH exhaust valve cover is 4 bolt
If it's a 72 just use late model, 74 and newer, engine mounts. A 71 motor may take some mount fabrication.
I happen to have a complete set of late motor mounts, nuts and bolts. Just removed today. $30 plus the ride. Very nice shape, chrome front mount is NICE.
