Hi everyone,

I know that this has been covered briefly before but i was wondering if there may be any new information out there on this subject.

I am currently looking to put a set of dual purpose tires on my 1982 XS650SJ. It has already had a good bit of modification done to make the bike lighter and the few times i have taken it off road with just the standard street tires i was really impressed with how it handled.

I have read over Bluebikerblan's post where he talks about the following tires

" 16" Rear Tires
Duro Median 904 130/90S - 16
Bridgestone TW 40 120/90 - 16

18" Rear Tires
Duro Median 904 120/80S - 18
Dunlop Trailmax 120/90 - 18
Bridgestone TW 42 120/90 - 18
Bridgestone TW 302 4.10 - 18
Bridgestone TW 52 * 4.60S - 18

19" Fronts
Dunlop K 70 3.25 - 19
Bridgestone TW 39 90/100 - 19 "

I was just wondering if anyone had any feedback on any of these tires or if there are some different ones i should check out as well.

Thanks,
-Micah

I run the Bridgestone TW on the back of my xs as it was the only one I could get, the Duro couldn't be found here. I have about 6000kms 3730 miles on it and it's ready to be replaced. On the street it rode fine and had good grip and not terrible in the rain. However in the dirt I was less impressed, I run the Heidenau K60`s on the front and on my other bikes and find it a much better tire all around. But if you`re running the 16`rear your choices are limited. As for the wear i am pretty hard on rear tires if you`re just running on the street and aren`t doing burnouts you may get way more mileage than me.
