I want to take the decorative chrome emblem off of the top of an early gas cap so that I can polish the cap body. Attached are pictures of a disassembled cap that I borrowed from an eBay listing. I don't see how the emblem comes off. Is it glued on?

Hey, DB! Man, It's been a long time since I've had mine apart.
I think you have 1 more disc to remove, then find the 2 countersunk screws.
#10 in the parts pic.

Edit: Something doesn't look right in your pic. Is that an aftermarket cap?

I know nothing but it looks pretty clean to be original....

Thanks, that worked, nothing to it, I should have just taken it apart before asking questions. Those eBay pictures threw me.
I didn't realize that Mikes was selling repops -- you both are right, that's what it is -- it doesn't have the two countersunk screws, they would be visible in the listing pics if it had them.
