Early to Late valve cover mod, blame the Mailman......

Well I went after it again today, and you guys were right, I just needed to move stuff around a little, I just needed a little more room to get that cover off. But I was in a working mood this morning so I popped the gas tank off , removed all the tappet covers, removed the top motor mount, pulled the spark plugs and I set about re torquing the head, setting my valves, gave the spark plugs a quick clean, then installed the new tappet covers and o-rings, and cleaned and re oiled my air filters.

Tomorrow I’ll pop the gas tank and side covers back on and fire it up and set the cam chain tension and adjust the carbs. I have decided for now to leave the compression release in place because as Greg correctly pointed out to me , it is a part of the XS2’s character. This will really help keep my motor cleaner, Thank You Gary! For modding these covers for me and the new o rings! Little by little I’m making improvements to this bike, and I sure am enjoying it!
