Looks like a nice backcountry cruiser. No takers on your XS yet?

Sweet lookin' bikes!! What's the red one?

The XS Doesn't look out of place in the last pic................78/79 Specials look great, Lower handlebars set those bikes off

See the XSs is still on fleaflay. Way better buy than the other 78SE and by the time they get engineers reports, rego/plates, safety slip, Transport and any maintenance costs to get it on the road, the bike could be around the $6400.00 mark.

Go to the Aussie club site, if you have had dealings with Geof then they should let you post on our web site "For Sale". They will do it for non club members just have to smile.

Nothing on there to match your price range. http://www.xs650.org.au/For Sale/index.html.

Thanks for the pics of the meet. Good variety and good to see an XS so well done.

Backcountry cruiser allright, covered 60,000 miles in 3 years on the road.
Had a 9 month spell courtesy of being torpedoed by a bull arab dawg...but I capitalised on the teardown to repair the gears (unit construction see)
With Darton sleeves, Wiseco forged slugs and a capacity increase to 109 cube (1769cc) ...while we were in there a little port flow and a set of Lloydz HOH .495" cams for some deep breathing...Nice combo with Lloydz TorqueTube intake and very free flowing RPW pipes...finished off with an ace tune by 'Fred' of ProCycle fame.
Southern Hemishphere power is always a bit down on what you Northern Hemispherers can extract but at 114/124 its an extremely satisfying ride...The inherent breathing advantages of the Freedom engine once rid of the EPA shackles means I can run the hottest cams and not sacrifice bottom end.
Not that theyre a tractor V-twin they love to rev.
Since the dogs at Polaris flicked us in favour of persuing the Indian image Vics have become a real bargain with some owner panicking over 'spares'
Silly really with the aftermarket already picking up the ball.
We owners of other 'obsolete ' bikes know for a fact that they can run on indefinitely...rarely have I bought any parts from Yamaha Honda Suzuki or Kawasaki for any of the many older bikes Ive owned over my many years of riding.

No no takers on the Special just a couple of silly offers, Im not that desperate, Ill hold out for what shes worth.

Thanks mate..and thx for the link, Ive sent an email off to them with the ad.
If it sells it sells...if not Ive some variety to ride.
After all I had my TX650 and GPz900r together for years and would switch from one to the other depennding on mood or distance to travel.
My Vegas eats miles and Im off again riding to Bathurst at Easter to flag marshall at the 6hour production car race weekend.
This coming weekend Im flying to Melb then hiring a cheap rentacar to sleep in whilst flag marshalling at the Phillip Island Historics .
The Vegas has spoilt me but, after riding both back to back Im amazed how I used to ride from Gold Coast to Bathurst for the Easter bike races in the early 80's....guess I was 35 yrs younger!

Interesting history on Bathhurst. Bought a one owner 74TXA from a guy in Cairns. He must have bought the bike in Townsville, dealers sticker is still on the rear guard, or living there at the time, anyways, he used to ride to Bathhurst each year on the TXA from up here.

Those were the days hey, pretty wild times up on the mountain, I vaguely remember seeing some racing one year

The exact same thing happened on my switch when I first started up the bike last month, I reckon the plastic they used for them is giving up with age and fatigue, be interesting to see how your repair goes Mbx.

Ditto here; two years ago for an XS high / low switch I'd fitted as replacement to my GS. The plastic crescent piece just snapped in two. Luckily I had another spare, and as originality isn't important to me, I'll probably fit GS500 switches or later Yam - something that's much more recent and isn't ready to break with age.

Good idea!...
Hey I just returned from flag marshalling at Phillip Island Historics car racing.
Some pix for all the motorheads out there.
Formula 5000s , CanAm, Ferraris, Porsches , Mc Larens , Lolas, as well as cranked up Camaros and Mustangs and Corvettes taking on Aussie Muscle in the form of Falcon GTs, Monaros,

XUI Toranas,

Somehow I goofed in trying to 'economise' on the pix yet show the first one big....
Anyway as my penance heres some more.
By the way thanks for the link 650Skull to the Aussie XS650 club , Ive submitted the ad and its accepted and up....I just had a look via your link.
The stronger EBC clutch springs arrived yesterday so Ill probably fit them today as 2 up and overtaking a car to stay with the pack on our last club run I did feel a little clutch slippage...
Wondering wether or not to install the 1.8mm shims we machined up on the lathe that are in there now.
Anyway a few more pix and Ill try not to double up this time!
Last pic is turning over the mouth of the Tweed river showcasing the world famous surf breaks of Snapper Rocks, Greenmount and Kirra, and when the swells are really big in cyclone season all these breaks join up to form a very long ride on one wave.
Enjoy.20180312_081744.jpg 20180311_173430.jpg 20180311_143411.jpg 20180312_122416.jpg 20180311_114703.jpg 20180311_094751.jpg 20180311_094328.jpg 20180309_183915.jpg 20180310_213712.jpg 20180312_141802.jpg

Love that E type Jag.:)

Yeah Jim ...and the fact it was parked alongside an FJ Holden of 53-56 vintage I thought the similarities in the streamlining would make a great comparison, in a sort of strange way.
A working mans delivery vehicle alongside a rich mans toy.
Though with the price and rarity of a decent FJ van these days well a person needs plenty cash to dabble in either end of the spectrum.

How'd you know I was an arse man.... ;)

Just a wild guess mate!

Last two have nothing to do with Phillip Island, but I do get carried away!
Hey should I drain my oil before removing the primary cover?
Gonna fit the new clutch springs this arvo.
Probably less mess if I do hey:umm:
