I have an '81 Special that I bought as a 'Bike-in-bits' which is slowly (veeery slowly) being transformed into a Street Tracker.

It has the footrests that bolt on adjacent to the swinging arm pivot.

There also appears to be footrest mounting points just to the rear of the lower engine mounting bolt.
Were they ever used for such a purpose and if so which model used them.....or are for some other purpose and I'm missing the relevant part(s)?

Thanks for that.
I didn't get the exhaust and associated parts in the box but now I've had a butchers at the parts fische I can see where the brackets go.

Looks like another job for me trusty hacksaw.

It's not a bad idea to attach the headpipes there for additional support .....

Factory pipes had a tab on them for this very purpose. For most aftermarket pipes, you'll need to add a P clamp. I made mine from stainless strap.

I intend to fid a Jemco style high level system so won'the be needing them...unless I keep them to fit stabilisers for when I'm too infirm to hold the bike up,!

Thanks for your replies.☺
