Front end and Brake upgrade question...

I'm doing a cafe job on my 82 XS. I'd like to upgrade the front suspension and brakes. In the tech section it looks like an FZ600 front end could work. I found an 87 on flea bay in my area that needs work, current bid is $511.00. My question is, am I making a forward move or lateral? I know I gain dual discs but, are the front forks that much better?

$511.00 seems like a lot of money to me for a 24 year old front end.

I saw those too, I'm talking about a complete bike. I figured 100.00 for the forks then rotors, calipers, axle and or wheel it would add up. If I buy a whole bike I can take what i need, maybe use the rear wheel too and strip and sell the rest.

Didn't read the post closely enough. Went on eBay, saw the red bike. I don't know if you could make much parting out, don't know what the demand for the parts are, might end up costing more than $300 net. Were you looking for a 16" wheel for the front. If you wanted a matching rear, would need to go with a custom sprocket, standard for the fz600 is around 44T. Just some factors to take into account.
