Gas tank clear coat

Hi solidstateirons,
gotta disagree with MOSFET. The can claims it's solvent "leaves a pleasant citrus odor".
If it leaves an odor, what else does it leave, eh?
Me, I wipe off plain steel with acetone, right before I spray it.

Okay, awesome! I was very hesitant but i picked it up anyways. Thank you

Well, you're already getting the clear coat from Spraymax, they also sell this

I mean I'm just being cautious, I prepared everything on my tank like it is recommended, and I have the results - my work looks still like it was sprayed yesterday. Why waste all that time to do a job, to find out that your clear coat starts peeling because you wanted to save a few bucks or was too lazy to go buy the right stuff. Do it once, do it properly.

I'm not saying it will start peeling if you use something else, just to be clear :D

(Maybe I'm just a little paranoid, for example I also removed the paint from my tank mechanically, because I was afraid the paint remover would leave some sort of chemical residue on the tank surface)

I used Rustoleum Wax and Tar Remover. Available at the local auto parts store for a few bucks.
