    Hi all!
I have a set of header pipes I'm looking at using. The end of the pipe that seats into the head seems worn or uneven to the face of the welded flange. It varies from 5/8 to 1/4. I'm wondering if it I need to square it up by refacing it or even build it up with a weld and reface or if it's just fine? Your advice appreciated.

I don't think that part make a big difference. The rings are what holf it all in place and crush the gasket.

Yes, that end just sticks into a step cut into the exhaust port and centers the pipe. It doesn't butt up against anything and seal. Here's a cutaway view of the MikesXS torque insert. It's designed in a similar manner to the end of a stock headpipe. As you can see, that stepped down end doesn't seal to anything, just centers the part in the head .....
