Help with PAMCO

Hey guys... Got a question, I have a 1980 motor i believe but it has been converted to points by PO. I want to do the PAMCO ignition but i see there is a different listing for engines that are 80 and newer. Is this because of the electronic ignition? Since mine is points now do I order the pre 80 kit? Thanks!

The newer motors with electronic ignition didn't have the advance unit under the right cam cover. if yours now has this, you should get the setup for the older motors without all the advance parts.

No. The points and the PAMCO need the advance sdtup.

Just by looking, how does one tell if their bike bike is a points bike or an electronic bike?

You see the round chrome covers above your spark plugs, remove one or both, if you see an advance unit or points, you have points ignition.

Top motor mount holds condensers that are only present on points... Plus I think points have 2 seperate coils
