1973 TX650
Hello everyone,
First thing is first. I have a 1973 TX650, I removed the stock electronics box, now from the tank to the rear hoop there is currently no cross brace.
I tried to weld and fabricate an electronics box, but it did not turn out as I had hoped. This was due to the fact that I have never welded before and didn't know what I was doing. I am glad I did it though and it was a fun learning experience.
Anyway, I have a budget in mind for this part of the bike. What I would like is to get a quote for the final item in raw, unpainted metal and painted (matte black).
Here is the link to the mock-up and drawings with dimensions:

I would like this in 16 gauge steel (maybe stainless steel so it doesn't rust) and painted matte black. In the images, the back portion is to hold my battery. I don't know if the back portion of the electronics tray will require extra support (i.e. L-bracket, diagonal bar, etc.) since the battery weighs about 1.5 lbs or if 16 gauge steel will suffice.
Here is a link to the battery:

My idea, as you can see, is the hide the battery under the hump of the seat and above the rear tire. The following links are to electronic trays I had based my design off. They might be more suited considering I don't know how well 16 gauge steel will hold the 1.5lbs. Please take a look at these links.

The previous links use what appears to be a two-layered system. This idea might work better for support.
Otherwise, I am open to other ideas. I was thinking about all of my electronics under the side cover and inbetween them (no mock-up, just an idea).
Please let me know if you have any questions, concerns, or cannot see anything from the attached images in the link.
Thank you,
Emir.
