Wanted - In Search Of 1972 Xs650

Hate to hijack. I live not too far from you. Why are there almost no xs650's on any of the popular classifieds? Are these bikes drying up?

I sure don’t know; I’ve been watching locally for years for a nice 72. Most of the bikes that have come up have needed a fair amount of work. Maybe they just didn’t make many of the early ones..

The early ones were definitely made In smaller numbers and their availability reflects that. Including all models nearly 300,000 were eventually produced.

The first three model years amount to less than 60,000 units worldwide.

xs1 candy green S650 000101 - S650 006686 = 6686 bikes
xs1f & xs1b candy orange S650 007101 - S650 025383 = 18283 bikes
xs2 S650 100101 - S650 133900 = 33800 bikes

Mailman, can you keep your stats running up thru 78?
WOW, only 6,600 70's worldwide.
Thanks

Does anyone know how many unmolested XS1’s are left?

Ant

That’s an interesting question. What qualifies as unmolested? Does it have to be just like it left the factory with all OEM parts and original paint? Do restorations count? As for an all original , barn find XS1, I’d have to say those would be exceedingly rare. Most have either been restored with non factory parts, or chopped up and modified or rusted away to oblivion.
