Is this how the sump filters come from the factory or did someone already fix it?

I went ahead and jb'd the thing anyway--looked like a small tear right where you guys say it always tears. Waiting on the gasket from Mike's to reassemble.

You know...I also have a 1990 FJ1200. Never had to deal with any of this 2 filter/ripping filter business. Ten minute oil change and the monster's ready to roar. 22k on it, push the starter and it's ready to leave nearly everything at the light. Looking forward to hearing what this lil guy sounds like though. Had BSA's back when dinosurs roamed the earth.
