Good day fellow Xs lovers I wanted to post a some progress shots of my Prairie sailor xs project,
I just got her running with some scabby wiring and I've yet to add lights, Been around the block once or twice (has anyone not done that while building a bike ) I'm currently running no top engine mount but I'm thinkn I should put one on to see if it reduces the vibration, all hand built sheet metal out back, love the dual front disc (she's effen heavy) fired up 1.5 kicks first try pamco pickup dual output coil still has stock alternator and 6.5a/hr battery. I am going to start the rear inner fender soon.

Tell me what you think,
Jacob

That's some intriguing sheet metal, Winmag. Ever think of complimenting it with a "cow catcher"-type spoiler at the bottom of the down tubes? It would scoop air up, onto the motor and exhaust for additional cooling...
Speaking of exhaust, where did you get those pipes?!!!

Hand build from a exhaust kit forgot who they're from, just flanges and u bends, thank you.

Yea the chin spoiler idea has come across but I don't want to over do it with "cowling". Might pull some poster paper out and let the creative juices flow making a chin spoiler ;) the tips came to me from looking at wwII fighters and loving the side dumps

Hahah yes very salt flat racer like ! My brother beat ya too the suggestion and I respectfully declined..... the front wheel was my first lace job and I'm happy with the stainless spokes a shining ! (Matches the back)

Just a little update finally got headlight and led brake lights on and went for a respectable 20 minute ride and ...... At idle she started to a oke out of the right side exhaust. Up off idle she is clean burning sooooo I'm thinking I spit a valve Stem seal :( looks like when I read down for paint the engine is going to get a go through :( thought I had a decent runner for a bit but the project has grown..... 750cc time ? Not into big cam /bottom end schnanaginz but a quick and sleezy top end job is in order I feel....

No need to get crazy with the rebuild, unless it's smoking so bad you're "spraying for bugs". It's riding season (short enough, right?). Save the tear-down for the winter (ya know, 8 months long!). Good luck, and keep us updated!

Please give me details about the rider foot pegs. I like the sheet metal work you did, pretty cool.

Thank you, here's some foot peg pics,
up front is the standard fwd controls custom stainless linkage and a pair of those wild pivot pegs off a MX dirtbike. legit, bolted directly into the original footpeg bracket that is rubber isolated and all.... This bike is an absolute beauty to ride I'm loving it, I discovered the drive chain is directly in line with the carb and I can no longer have debris flying up into the wide open stacks(I'm riding it now not just sitting) so a chain splash guard is in order

Soo that design didn't work.... I cut it apart and remade the Intake to be more ram air and tighter to the centerline
Purchased a k&n RC 1200 airfilter. Now just brainstorming on an airfilter cover /shaped cowl for it
