Hi, I've gotten lots of great ideas and info from this site and like seeing all the build threads so thought I would contribute a little. I'm a 55 yr. old farmer in Ks. My first bike was a 1970 SL-100 Honda bought in 1970 when I was 13. Have had many bikes since, mostly dirt bikes but have always loved flat trackers. My older brother and I built a Boss framed XS-650/750 the winter of 1979/80 when he got out of the Navy. After several yrs. I sold my share to him and then he traded it for a moto-crosser. Anyway, I've wanted to build a xs tracker for quite awhile, found a 1979 with a hole in one piston so thats the start. Started working on it last winter and hope to get it running this spring. I don't plan on street riding it so just hd light and tailight for now. Mainly riding gravel and dirt roads around the farm. Hope the pics come up. I'll add more pics in my next post with a desc. of what's going on hopefully. I stink at computers and photos.

Welcome, wheat/canola/sunflower/field peas (rotation) zero till grower here in S.W. North Dakota. Keep on wrenching man!

These pics are of drilling the discs. I used a bit from a bunch my bro. brought home from the Navy in '79. The ship workers would use a bit only a few times and then change. This bit drilled both discs without sharpening or lube. Very good bits. Adapters for the 19 in. front to rear conv. from Jim Henry in Tx. Mocking up the seat base that will hold the fiberglass seat. Going with a two into one set-up with TT pipes from Hoos and a Super-trapp muffler from a TT600 Yam. Got the bright idea to adapt a TT600 Yam swing-arm this summer. I think it's going to work.

Going with fiber glass late model XR tank from Gopher Glass in Mn. Frame painted with VHT graphite wheel paint. Got the motor back together finally. Went with J.E. 700 pistons from Hoos. Fido resting up after helping me lift the motor into the frame. Drilled holes and painted up the seat base.

Dakota lew, thanks for the welcome! How is the winter going up there? Been mostly mild here with only one snow storm so far. The drought is not letting up yet.

Love that Super Trapp but they can be some what restrictive. You can remove the non-preforated baffle and re-weld in it's place a 1 3/4 perforated baffle for deeper throatier exhaust tone. Those type S/T megaphones are the ideal mufflers to have and are the real deal in extracting power if your up to the task of fine tuning the engines E-S,"Great Score" If you ever decide to sell it,PM me first.

Hey plowboy1! Great looking build. When I get my bobber done I'm looking to build a tracker next. Where about are you in Kansas? Good to see some more Kansas folk on here.

pre-grid and johnt3 thanks much for the welcome. Yes, the dogs name is fido. I've named so many animals around the farm over the years I 've run out of ideas. I'm NW of Salina about 60 mi.

Welcome! I talked with Mr Henry a while back about his adapters. His are different from Omar's in that there is only one bearing on each side and the bearing's mount in the adapter vs the hub. That gear side adapter isn't for the oem gear. What is it mean to run?

racerdave, yes the sprocket side adapter I got is for the stock sprocket. He also makes adapters to fit the stock Yam wheels but set-up for knock off sprockets for flat track. Mitch

Heres a few more pics from my tracker build and another project I'm working on. Got a 40t 520 aluminum sprocket from Rebelgears in Tn. Fit perfect and super fast service. Drilled some holes in my rear brake stay arm. Got the solid bar mounts and speedo delete from HHB. Fits great and really makes the bars feel like they should! Comes with all new hardware too! The motor pictures are of an 1970 SL-100 Honda I bought this summer to re-store. It had a broken kick shaft, a comman problem on the first year SL's. My 100's shaft broke in 1971 too! This bike has not run for almost 20 yrs., but I hope to get it running for old times sake before totally re-furbishing it.

Good to see you got some more done to your build plowboy1! Man,you've got a few projects going on. Hell that SL probably doesn't have that many hours on it at all.

Builds looking great! It's been an exceptionally cold winter... Very little snow much to my regret... I haven't started pacing about on the weather yet, but February may be long if we don't get some more moisture in the stubble.

Looking forward to see where you are going on this build.
