Jeepers Creepers, my Peepers tell me that my Keepers are Keepers.

Any reason to replace my valve collets?

I am keeping stock exhaust valves and swapping stock intake valves with new OEM.

I've always re-used them. I suppose if I ever ran across one that was damaged, I would replace it. Now, tip #287 (or whatever, lol) which does relate to the keepers somewhat - after re-assembling the valves into the head, give the top of each assembly (spring, retaining washer, collets) a couple good whacks with a big rubber mallet. This bounces the valve open and closed and seats or sets the collets in case they weren't in quite right. Or one may pop out if it wasn't in right. You do this now and find the error so it doesn't possibly happen once you're running down the road.

Sweet.

I'm on the home-stretch with buying parts (piece-meal), so it will be nice to save ~$50 or so on 4 sets of standard ones from MikesXS.

Thanks for the mallet tip!
