Kickback after rewiring/larger battery

I would say strobe the timing in, Boyers have to be timed up while running at full advance, the chances are as you have moved the plate you have knocked it out of time, also make sure the cam-chain tension and valve lash are also correct prior to doing this.
 
Definitely find out your true TDC to check your marks. The simple piston stop method is about the easiest. I am unsure on Boyer systems but what advance mechanism is it and check that is working right.
 
The Boyer Bransden ignition is actually set up in the fully advanced position, the electronics retard the spark advance lower rpm operation. See that little hole, in the pickup plate? There are a white paint spots on the magnets behind that plate. Line up one of those white dots behind that hole with the crankshaft turned to the full advance mark.
 
This is an old thread but if anybody has this problem and is searching... Rasputin post #20 is correct and his suggestion of low voltage is correct.
