I saw this on a car forum, but people were saying something along the lines of this: you adjust the idle, then lean the carbs untill the revs drop, then go back 1/4 turn and it should be a good mixture? I was just wondering because I've tried to adjust my mixture and it's hard to hear real well if the idle is smoothing with loud pipes on each side.

With the "Dead Cylinder" method, only have one cylinder firing and lower the rpm down to 300 or 400 rpm. With the butterfly closed in at the low rpm, the mixture screw adjustment should be detectable by a slight stumble of the rpm when either to far open or to far closed.
