Fitting the led from a 08 or so Tacoma tail light into my 75 lens. Just need to figure out how to securely mount it and weather proof it.

I would try some dots cut out of foam, like the weather strip that goes around pipes, for stand offs. Then glue it together with clear silicone sealant and let it dry good. It would be solid and provide vibration proofing and easy to remove if you had to. I bet you could use a hole cutter punch to make the dots ( Small Pillars)
This is a great idea for rear LED.

Are you also getting sufficient lighting at the bottom for the license plate?

There's a separate single led on its own board, it's hard to see but it's on the right in the picture. I'm going to try and use the power supply for that led but swap it for a white one aimed down towards the plate. I'll post as it comes along.

This is the "before" from the Tacoma lamp.
