I finally finished this '77 resto-mod after more than a year. Took it out for a 'shake-down' and it ran very nice. Headlight and inst. lights don't work as doesn't the left turn signal. All others work. I didn't realize how tall these are. It reminds me of the Yamaha XSR900's seat height. It also has a leak around the front oil tube. Oh, well... easily fixed.

Thanks guys, should have sold it when I had a chance, but what was I going to do? I'm retired (and tired) and love bikes especially the 650.

Oh wow! I just saw this post. That came out really nice. So many nice mods you’ve done, really tasteful and clean.

    Calendar material.
A term some would use in the UK, “Bang Tidy”, means a very nice job. I love it.

Thanks to all again. It was really a ( most times) a fun build. Kept changing my mind. I'm glad I stayed with it. Couldn't have done it without this forum for used parts and mechanical help. :)

I have a habit of taking pics off this site and using them as my various desktop background images...and so your bike is gracing my homescreen....Thats about as close to owning it as I get..LOL

Wow madmax, with all the other GREAT builds and restorations on this forum, to be chosen for a background screen...well, I am truly HUMBLED.

Thanks Phil, I have been envious of all your builds beginning with your ad on Denver's CL for your magneto tracker. I asked you what tires and size did you use as I was building a street tracker too. Don't know if you remember that.......A high bar was set for me then.

Thanks Tom and yes I remember that. As soon as I finish the No Theme Build I`m going to start a new thread where I build (dig) a direct access tunnel to the "Poor House":yikes:

Nice '77 there Mr Bultaco! Have a '77 myself, not pretty but pretty reliable, that my son rides quite a bit. What exhaust system are you using, and how loud is it? Curious as I'm working on a '78 that is pretty raucous.

Thanks for the comment Steve, the head pipes were on my '80 that I made into a street tracker. They are XS Performance available at several places__650 Central, Mikes. The mufflers are Commando style that I got from Amazon. Lots of forum members use this combo. I really like the sound coming from them. Some want the louder, but I have left mine stock (so far)
