Guess I never really realized why it was named....

....not sayin’ a word....nope, silent.

Hopefully, the weather will back off and you’ll be able to give those new sealing arrangements a try soon Bob.

Trial by fire.....

Well I gave my new seal the acid test today. I took it out today and ran it over 130 miles , mostly at 45-60 mph, got her good and hot, and the short answer is...... I WON!!! WooHoo! Not one drip showing when I got home!

Don’t even need to tear it down and photograph it, cause there’s nothing there!

So what's your best guess as to what the issue was? Bad seal maybe?

Ha! As reluctant as I am to admit it after all the things I did. Yeah, I kinda think the new seal was the key, I also think that polishing that spacer might have helped, and the spacer had some rough , sharp edges that I initially thought were from wear, but after receiving the old stock OEM spacer, and noticing that it has the same rough edges, I believe that was caused from the way they were machined. I took care to file and smooth those sharp edges, I also took care to lube the lips of the seal and the spacer where the seal rides on.
Maybe at some point my first seal had the sealing lips cut by a sharp edge on the spacer? Who knows.
I didn’t really expect it to work.
