Maybe some more wiring help.

Not to toot my own horn, but that article makes it sound really easy. I feel like I could do it in a matter of minutes. HAHAHAHAHAHA, I still will likely screw it up.

If you do the wiring yourself break it down into steps
FIRST Do all the wires for lights front and back and brake switch
SECOND Do the wires for the coil and ignition
THIRD Do the wires for the charging system
FOURTH Add in horn / turn signals or what ever you are putting together
Using stock handle bar switches can get a little crazy so you need to look over each wire and know what it does.
Buying a stock harness everything plugs in so its a lot easier to do.
When I was making up harnesses it takes about 4 hour to do one right and tie in the controls and fuse box and ignition plus charging.
If bike is a stocker or a café style its worth the money to just buy a new stock harness but if bike is a Chopper or Bobber then you need to do one up to limit the wires for a nice clean look. This is what a basic harness that gives you lights/brake switch/horn/Coil& ignition look like . Now you would buy a TCB kit for the charging and you are 80% there.
Good Luck with your build:thumbsup:
