I have a 77 xs650D and recently had some charging issues with my xscharge PMA system. Ran through all of the tests and it seems ok, but one curious note was the 3 wire connector from the stator was melted. Is that why the charge wasn't getting through, and if so, what generally causes that? I went ahead a got a new reg/rec but would rather not melt that one too. Thank you.

Too much resistance in the connector, builds up heat. Time to upgrade to some better connector hardware, or better yet, cut the connectors out and solder the wires together.

Thanks mike, so odds are it wasn't a malfunction, just too much heat for those connectors? All the tests I have done show good a/c out of the stator and good charging at the battery.
