If you are needing a caliper such as this to rebuild, this seems to be a good candidate. Not too corroded or abused, just been unused a long time. It’s stuck. I didn’t put any effort into freeing it up yet. Front disc is available too. I do not know all the years this fits.
questions ? -RT Vancouver WA
Oh not at all. This caliper is for a bike earlier than a 77. It would be cool to have dual calipers of this era. I think this era is actually a better design than the 77 up
Trying to decide if this early cast iron opposing dual piston caliper is worth effort to save for anybody ?
These two “key” shaped releases are new to me. Haven’t forced anything yet. Thinking about this here at work ...
The caliper on my '75 is like this with those releases and tangs on the pads. If I recall correctly it had releases on both sides of the caliper so those tangs on the pad could be rotated in either direction. I'll have a look when I get home from work tonight.
Caliper halves almost freed up and separated but not quite yet. Still hoping for a rebuildable caliper. soaking.
Thought this early caliper would be fun to open up to see ? Not too impressed.
