My '76 650C with supposedly BS38s does not look quiiiiite like the pics in the carbguide.pdf.

Specifically, while the left carb DOES have the block off screw to remove and put a synch nipple in, the right side carb does NOT. Instead, the boss where the block off screw should be is a plain casting. I see no place, even on the inside of the carb, where a nipple could be fitted.

Am I screwed?

You can purchase manifolds with sync barbs already in them or you can drill holes in your existing manifolds and glue some barbs in them.

- if you ever have your head off you can drill vacuum ports into the inlet casting a la goran...these can be fitted with barbs when needed and sealed with a bolt when not

Thanks, INXS (if that's your REAL name). On my 1100 VStar I have two synch hoses with aquarium valves permanently installed under the side cover. Sure makes synching quick and easy.

What would be cool (and unnecessary) would be vac gauges the show synch real time while you ride. Hmm...
