We will see if I can get it done this time, got more clean up done this weekend and parts delivered from mikesXS. Ordered up my stuff I need to powder coat the motor, should be picking up a free oven this week.
Just a few shots of cleaning up the cases and gasket surfaces with a dish wash at the end.

The motor is looking good! I've never seen one in a dish washer. Didn't you say on an earlier post that you got married?

Yeah mine definitely left some residue so I probably won’t be washing it in there again but nothing a light cleaning won’t take care of I hope.

Here's another caution about using soap....

This is straight out of the Lycoming aircraft engines overhaul manual. They've been building aluminum case, air cooled engines for about a gazillion years. I (and the FAA) tend to take their cautions seriously. Oil is an excellent lubricant. Oil/soap foam..... not so much.
I would strongly suggest you do a couple more hot water wash cycles... without the soap. That or steam clean the parts...

Powder coated my first engine part last night. Used a gloss black from Eastwood turned out pretty nice. Going to continue to clean up parts and coat them so I can start the rebuild.

Got some more powder coating done this weekend, gloss black is lookin sweet. Filled in some gouges with quiksteel and sanded them down we will see how the powder likes it when I get to it. Also sanded out some very deep scratches on some covers that turned out decent
