Welcome to the forum!! what type a build you doing there chopper, bobber, cafe??

I would have to say chopper although I hate the terminology, because today a chopper is something you buy from OCC. So im going to say a "motorcycle". Mostly because I dont like to be profiled. All I care is that this thing turns out better than anything off the showroom floor and when I pull up to a stop light beside mister "chiropractor/dentist/lawyer" with his brand new soft tail with all the chrome accessories I can smirk at the stupidity as I drive away (hopefully with out stalling lol).

but it will be a looped hardtail, 4" stretch, 35 degree rake. Minimalistic bare bones approach.

LOL...I here you man! the term Chopper has been Bastarsized by the wealthy.....when suzuki came out with the M109 with a 240 stock rear wheel (I just threw up in my mouth a little bit) sorry back on the subject.I'm am and have allway's been a fan of the home built bikes...

    - nice touch adding the bsa tank - the current stance has potential

Maybe im just bitter because im divorced and poor and cant afford this M109 you speek of hahaha notice the extreamly skinny tire on the back?

  8. Mellowyellow

    Mellowyellow XS650 Addict

back bone is reworked to 18 degrees just for that tank so it should sit tight to the tank and almost horizontal.

Yea I saw the skinny back wheel! i love the skinny wheel look on a choppper.. check this bike out with 21" front and rear....

    Not to shabby,
but rear brakes are nice when you decide to stop.
but having front brakes is nice when you have to stop.

  11. Those wheels look great! What size are the rims?

I hear you there!! I never call my project a chopper or bobber for that same reason. A friend calls it a chopper because some things have been chopped off the frame. I call it a custom, project, or build. I should just give it a name so it can be called that.

:agree: It's like a front-wheel-drive drag car. The weight transfer is all wrong. I'll keep my front brakes.

    -Rear is a stock 18" 100/90 Avon and front is a 21" 90/90 Avon.

-I was thinkin about a name too. I was thinkin "the Tom Cat" if someone thinks its corny then shut your mouth, because you obviously havent spent enough one on one time with you bike lol hahaha.

-Speaking of front brakes Ive been doing lots of reading on a "brembo" upgade but it would be nice to find a cheaper solution.(pretty much every component of my front brakes are shot).

Found that on another site, most disc offsets will not match so some custom machining will be necessary (spacers caliper mounting hardware) still learning but If I come up with anything else I will post it.

-just not a fan of that big heavy stock disc.

  16. They look great! Where are you at on the frame?

-Some major changes and some very minor changes also. I am ashamed to say that it wasnt my work (I just dont have the resourses, room or the knowledge "yet").

-It was Robert Elswick at Elswick cycles, Great guy to deal with. this is a picture of the frame he sent me before he sent it home. Looks like great work (should be at my door on friday) i will post some more pictures then.

-I was extremely specific as to what I wanted (much of what I havent seen yet on an xs) and Robert was right on board with doing something different.

The frame looks good!! I like the lower seating posistion!!

  19. Nice.. I like how the seatpost doesn't get narrow at the bottom like a lot of them do. I also like how the angle of the backbone matches the seat rails with the drop seat and how the lower rails start to bend up toward the axle plates before most hardtails do.. It looks like it's going to sit low as far as ground clearance. What rake is that?

  20. Just noticed the whole backbone and seat post must be new with the rear motor mount being in front of the seat post and not through it.
