I know this topic has been beat to death, but I just want to make sure plan for my electrical system will work before I start purchasing parts. I started out with a points bike motor (1974 motor) without any type of wiring harness (previous owner must have ripped it all out). The regulator was also missing. My question is this: Will this list of parts work for my application:

Stock Rotor and Stator
Complete Pamco Electronic Ignition System http://www.mikesxs.net/product/14-0902.html
This reg/rectifier unit: http://www.mikesxs.net/parts/img600/24-2089.jpg
This battery: Minimalist battery from http://650central.com/

Is there anything I am missing to make this bike run? Also, im not using a starter for this bike.

Any help/insight into this is much appreciated. Also - anyone know any shops in the bay area, CA that could help out with this?

yes it has been beaten to death.

have you made an effort to actually read any of the electrial tutorials covering all of the above questions.

First link........Read Mikes wording on what year that Pamco system is designed for, and check against your bike the parts you already have

Second link. No information about/accompanying that pic????????.

Third link. ???????????

Sorry, I should have been a little more descriptive. I have the correct Pamco ignition, I was just showing you which one I had. Here is a better description of the regulator:

From everything I have read/researched, I believe this will work but was after a little more info as well as someone to confirm it will work.

Sorry for the confusion.

Smoklin,

Well, if you have a 1974 engine, then you probably have the advance rod and mechanical advancer so the 14-00902 kit is a little overkill because it includes both. If your mechanical advancer is OK then this kit would do the job for less money Part #14-0901 only $142.

Pete - I'm sorry, I should be more clear when I am writing my questions/responses. The motor I bought did not have the advance rod and mechanical advancer so that is why I purchased that kit.

I do have a question on the solid state reg/rectifier. Will this one work with kit I have purchased? http://www.mikesxs.net/product/24-2089.html. I am basically starting from scratch with everything except for the stator/rotor. Those came with the bike. The rest of the electrical system didn't.
