First and foremost, I owe all the credit of this design to 5T, as with many of my mods; he inspired me once I saw an old post of his where he discussed the late model steering head bolt which has a threaded hole. Once I became aware of this bolt, I realized I had found an attachment point I didnt know of when I first considered adding a voltmeter.
After I bought one of those bolts, I started working on a design in my head, transferred my idea to foam, then to wood with some forester bits in my cheap drill press, then on to the final material of aluminium once I found a local machinest to do the final version.
I already had a piece of 1.5" aluminium so thats what I went with, and of course I had to polish it.
Its just a cheap meter from ebay with some length added to its half of the power cord, the other half of the power cord comes from the headlight bucket brown hot wire thus the key on position triggers the meter.

Enjoy

Yes, very nicely done. I like your choice of meter light color too, matches the tank.

Is there anything you would have done differently if you were to do it again?

Wow, what an interesting question, which should be asked every time for somthing like this...i did go back and increase wire size and coupler design....

I know you said that you used "the headlight bucket brown hot wire" but what did you use for the negative? I was kind of confused by that... And how is the digital gauge going? Would you consider an analog?

I would use analog if I could find something that small.
Negative also from HL bucket.
I will provide a pic later of the connector I used, it has the connector outside the bucket so i can disconnect easily

Thanks! I am planning to do a voltmeter mod but I'm still figuring out my headlight/front wiring as is...
It's always helpful to see other projects and gain some inspiration :)

The connector

My alloy stock was 1.5 inches OD, and it just barely cleared the middle of the bars....so no, unless you run different risers which lift the bars much higher.
