My cousin is visiting with his kids and asked If I'd help replace the thermostat on his trailblazer. Taking a tip from a worker at O'reillys we took the front driver side tire off and were able (not easily but doable) to get to the thermostat with extensions. We successfully got it off and got the new one installed, well almost. After a little cursing and finessing we got the first of two bolts on. It was secure and I felt confident so I sat back as he worked the second bolt in. Then it happened, he snapped the bolt off in the casing, and not flush with the casing. So we have a broken bolt, in a very hard to reach spot and it needs to come out. I know we got some crafty guys here, any help appreciated.

Can you use vise grips on the busted bolt?
....and then clamp it on his thumb to keep him away from the car till you get it fixed?

Weld a nut on it if you have a welder if not you are in for some heavy work because you are going to have to drill and re tap it
