neep help please!!

I finally got my 79 xs basket case to kick over and start today!! The bike begins to idle very well for approx 30-45 seconds, a few back fires here and there. Then all the sudden the bike goes full throttle and sounds like its going to explode. Checked the throttle and it is not sticking... anyone have any ideas????

Check for air leaks around the intake/carb manifold. Stock vacuum operated petcock or after market? If after market non-vacuum operated, make sure that the barbs on the manifolds are blind plugged with good rubber or linked with a bit of hose. If stock vacuum operated with one petcock then make sure the remaining barb is blind plugged. Lots of info in the search........

Probably a vacuum leak at the carbs. Here is a guide to help you. Page 16.
