The term "Sugar Shack" has different meanings in the Northeast (maple syrup cookoff) and the rural South ( a crude house of prostitution).Sugar Shack. (!) ....look for evidence
It definately was not a house, not nearly as big as a traditional mid west classic barn. It had a big bay on the front and possibly some loft space. Kind of a barn...maybe a small one? Judges, what say ye?
That spinal deformation is a phenomenon that is familiar to me, from observations in my area. This one's getting a bit spavined

Me too....Great rustic barn Gary and that's a new word to me - had to look it up.
Let me try this once more! I think it is in the right thread now!
Well this might be a little OT but still..........farmish I think!

This is the machine(above) we used to mow down the grass(aka weeds) when we first built our house in the late 1970's.
Guess I need to spend some time with the weed eater to make it show up better!
We towed it behind my Farmall BN tractor that now has a 72 inch mower deck on it and is still in use weekly.

This is one we bought as a spare but never got around to using it. It's sitting on a big rock that is pretty common around here. That might be why they opened the quarry I worked at just up the road in the 1960's.
There is actually an old quarry pit behind neighbors house that probably was in use in the early part of the 20th century or even before?
I guess this one was not deep enough, it's actually cut into a hill and the bottom is close to the same height as our two yards. There is actually an old quarry pit behind neighbors house
Has it turned into a local swimming hole
Where I'm at they fill up with spring water and are used all the time
Out for a ride today and came across this cool old barn. Stone construction.

I'm thinking it's been there a long time the road to the north of it is Stone Barn Road.

Never been on that road before, thought I would see where it goes. After 5 miles it turned into gravel. Kept going.
At the end of it the fields were posted with these signs.

Took some looking but I found a few. I'll let Mailman crawl over the fence to get a closer pic. Some had horns and did not look friendly.

Trouble with getting barn pics is most are well off of the road. Most farmers have dogs and/or shotguns.
This was the 4th gravel road I went on today. Time to clean the rims, they be kind of dusty.

Nice Greg! I love exploring backroads. C’mon, you need to go back and take a selfie with Mr. Buffalo!
