Yes I realize that this may come across as a rather stupid question but I need to ask.

I have found some 11inch shocks to put on my bike (I am a short dude). I have ready everywhere that my side stand needs to be shortened. My question is by how much??

I have to be sure before I have someone cut and reweld but I don't know how much to shorten. Help

The rear shocks on the XS1s are 12.5", a bit shorter than later models.
The sidestand is halfway between the front and rear wheel.
To go from 12.5" shocks to 11" shocks (1.5" shorter), would require half that (3/4") be removed from the sidestand...

I wouldn't do any cutting or welding til I had the shocks on the bike.
I'd also be looking carefully at bracket bolt and top of the sidestand, often neglected, seldom greased, many are plain worn out at the pivot, others are rather bent.
