I have a 1977 Standard (D), which has a rather bulky seat latch/lock housing welded on to the subframe. This makes it impossible to fit my MotoLanna seat, as the seat hits this housing before seating properly on the subframe/ seat rails.

I have been wondering if I could use the seat latch from the earlier models (XS1, XS2, TX), making it possible to swap between the stock seat and aftermarket seats. The aircooled RD350 seat latch is lockable, but otherwise very similar to the early XS/TX one, so would also be an alternative, if I can find one.

Basically I want to be able to swap seats as required, stock seat for touring with a passenger, and the MotoLanna or other aftermarket seats all depending on mood and state of modification (scrambler/tracker/caferacer)

Would this require the earlier stock seat as well, or would it work with the later standard seat?
