This is my second time installing my Pamco setup, I'm just wrapping up after replacing my valve seals. I never noticed it the first time but now, with everything tightened up, my advance rod slides laterally abt 1/16". Is this normal?

To clarify, if I'm sitting eye level to the side of the engine, looking at the advance unit, I can move the advance rod towards and away from my face by abt 1/16th".

I don't remember it doing that the first time but I was pretty clueless back then.. and I probably still am, HA.

Rexxis,

It's normal to have some end play, but 1/16" (.0625") is too much. Normal would be about 1mm or .04" Check to see if the rotor is seated on the end of the advance rod all the way up to the shiny part. May be a machining burr there or the locating pin may be too long. Check the advance side to be sure that the slotted disk is also seated properly.
