Pamco Coil Compatibility

the Pamco electronic igntion calls out for a dual output coil similar to the MikesXS part #17-6810 or 17-6822.

I have the 17-6822 and the 17-6803. I have been using the 17-6822 but am reinstalling a new Pamco and the 17-6803 will mount to my bike alot better than the 17-6822.

my question is will the Pamco work with MIkesXS coil Part #17-6803?

The PAMCO will work with the 6803, but there have been some problems with overheating because the ends of the center core are covered in plastic which reduces the heat transfer to the frame. Take a look at the site www.yamahaxs650.com for a picture of the 6803 with the ends stripped of the plastic cover. Do that and mount it firmly to metal brackets and you will be OK.
