Petcock swap

79 SF here. Going to be swapping tanks out in the near future.

Questions is this....when swapping petcocks (non vacuum type) are there gaskets or other parts to replace when mounting to a new tank? Or can I simply pop on the petcocks and go for it?

There's usually a sealing o-ring between the petcock and tank, but that should come with the new petcock. There are also sealing fiber washers on the mounting screws. Aftermarket replacements are said to be questionable. I've always re-used the originals with good results. If I did need new ones, I would get originals again, which are still available from Yamaha .....

same year/model, just different color. From rattle can black to Carmine Red.

Thanks gents...re using petcocks from current tank. I can find a suitable fuel tap/tank o ring at hardware store.

If they were sealing OK on the old tank, I don't see any reason they won't on the new tank, without replacing anything.
