If anyone out there can give me some help I would appreciate it. I have 1977 xs650 that I put pod filters on and iridium plugs. I have chopped exhaust but it is just about 6 inches shorter than original and has baffles. Since I have rebuilt the carbs (leaving the stock jets in the bowls) the left cylinder plug is pretty black with a whitish diode and the other looks more white than tan. The original air filters had lots of gaps and I have to think the pod filters are creating more of a seal. I always ran regular plugs before but I did completely tear down the carbs. Otherwise the bike runs great, just starts a little harder than it did before. Oh and the left exhaust tip feels warmer than the right side after a short ride. Do you think I can just adjust the air screw a bit or is it the iridium plugs? I hate to have to re-jet since that seems to be all guess work and I really don't want to go back to the original air cleaner system. All comments welcome!
