"Rat Bastards Brat Build"
Well im kinda new here so I hope I get this right.
My 77 XS650 D was resurrected from the back of someone's garage three years latter after a complete motor rebuild it is running, but I did not like the look or the ride.
I like the look of the Brat style bikes so I decided what the hell go for it, I was unable to afford the V.I. Brat kit so I came up with my own poor mans version.
I cut the stock flat seat tubes out, and using the same tubing I remounted them lowering the rear seat tubes to a height of 4" from the bottom Y brace.
Doing this gave me a wider 11" seat area and left the stock width where the shocks mount at 9.5" for the fender. I then added a set of Rebel shocks which dropped the rear to 10.5" added a Harley sportster tank, and made my own seat/pan...
All in all I don't think it looks so bad and it sure is fun to ride, it gets allot of strange looks from people.
