Any tried and true methods for getting this thing off of here?

Heat as in electric heat gun. A cutting torch can melt the alloy. Get it hot and spray with a good penetrant. Such as PJ Blaster. As it cools it will draw the penetrant in the joint.
Once cooled try driving the axle both in and out.
You can even use medium grit sand paper to polish the axle. This will help.

I use a propane torch. but a heat gun will it just take time.

yeah heat wouldn't hurt. use wood or aluminum blocks so your beating doesn't deform anything.

Warm it up, beat it back and forth but don't beat it too hard.. got it!

Thanks for the input, i'll update you if I ever get this thing off! haha
